Training and Campaign On Road Safety
We have started a the campaign this year for Road Safety – Defensive Driving. We have conducted various training programmes on Defensive Driving for employees at our Devapur Plant, Chittapur plant, Jalgaon plant and Hyderabad office.
We have observed Road Safety week between 20th January and 26th January 2016 for employees, their family members, school students, truck drivers,
details of which are pronounced below:
Awareness programme on Road Safety was organized for school children of Carmel Giri Convent High School along with a quiz competition. 1142 Children participated in this programme. Winners of the quiz competition were awarded prizes.
To propagate the message of Road Safety to all the Road Users in the society, we have sponsored Road Safety Week Propaganda Posters to Regional Transport Authority- Mancherial. These posters were launched in the Road Safety Week Inaugural function held by RTO Mancherial at RTO – Office, Mancherial.
A march past held in the plant and awareness programme on Road Safety was organized for all the contract supervisors. Supervisors are the first line of contact for all contract workers. This training programme was aimed at communicating the message to all the contract workers through their contract supervisors. They were advised to follow road safety rules to avoid accidents for themselves and others.
To inculcate road safety awareness amongst Truck Drivers working in our Mines, we organized an awareness programme at our Mines Office. 28 Drivers participated in this programme. Apart from this programme, during the campaign we have raised awareness to all the drivers through tool box talks. We have restricted unauthorized entry into mines area due to HEMM Movement.
Awareness programme on Road Safety was also organized for drivers of various transports at Safety Induction Centre in association with Circle Inspector of Police- Mandamarri & Inspector of Police- Devapur. 128 Truck drivers participated in this programme. Road Safety Pamphlets were distributed to all the truck drivers coming to the plant.

Glimpses of Road Safety initiatives at Devapur Plant
- Damaged portion of the Roads in the plant and township repaired.
- RCC Roads constructed inplace of Kachha Roads ( 1.8 KM).
- Activity of Road Widening at sharp turnings taken up.
- Speed Limit (20 KMPH) Caution Boards displayed in the Plant premises.
- Speed Limit (30 KMPH) Caution Boards displayed in the Colony premises.
- 8 Speed breakers constructed at speed prone areas in addition to the existing ones.
- Engaged Road Sweeping machine to clean roads to ensure cleanliness.
- Animal removal drive from colony taken up to avoid unexpected movement of animals on the roads
- Observed 3 blind turns and arranged convex mirrors to provide visibility.
- Provided view mesh in the wall for ease of visibility of vehicles on the other side of the wall infront of ATM.
- Provided dividers on the roads to ensure vehicle movement in a disciplined way.
- Traffic Islands made near Bachelors hostel to regularize vehicle movement.
- Deploying Security guards daily during school hours to control traffic and ensure safe movement of children on roads.
- Improved street light illumination levels to ensure the visibility of pedestrians on the roads by replacing approximately 50 existing street lights.
- 12 Portable barriers with radium reflectors made available for use in case of traffic diversion.
- 50 Road Safety Cones made available for use on roads.
- Seat Belt usage made mandatory inside the plant premises.
- Thought provoking Road Safety Slogans displayed in truck yard.
- As per the advice of the President- Works- procured reflective radium to be fixed on road side and tail end of trucks. RTO- Mancherial also insisted for the same.
- Plans are on to provide some more speed breakers at speed prone areas as per the guidelines of Sub Inspector of Police- Devapur.
- Awareness programmes are carried out on regular basis for all the employees, drivers, school children and housewives.
